Salem Sartin recently signed her national letter of intent to play golf at Newberry College. She graciously answered a few questions about her past, present, and future as a golfer.
1. What is your favorite EHS Golf memory?
My favorite EHS golf memory was when I shot my best score at State during my junior year. The temperature that day was so cold that I feared that I would do awful in the tournament. However I surprisingly did the opposite and shot a new record for myself.
2. What unique characteristics make you a good golfer?
I am very hardworking and dedicated. During the summer, I was constantly going out to Stoney Point, having lessons, practicing on the range, and even going out on the course and playing on my own. As a result, my scores improved tremendously this year compared to my junior year.
3. What made you decide to play golf in college (specifically at Newberry)?
I wanted to play golf in college overall because I feel like it is a way to become more involved with the university, and I just feel like it is an honor to represent the college as an athlete. I chose to go to Newberry because it is not too far away from home, and unlike other colleges I looked at, as a nursing student, they will be able to work with me and my schedule regarding clinicals and tournaments.
4. What are you looking forward to most about being at Newberry?
I am looking forward to being in a new atmosphere and getting to know my new teammates on the golf team, as well as being able to form a bond with them throughout my years at Newberry.
