Boys Varsity Cross Country, Girls Varsity Cross Country · EHSXC Hosts 3A/4A Upper State Qualifier


Emerald Cross Country athletes, parents, and coaches hosted the AAA and AAAA Upper State Qualifier earlier this morning at the Oasis Farm of Connie Maxwell. Coach Payne would like to extend a heartfelt “thank you” to all of the volunteers who made today’s meet a success.

The girls team qualified to compete at the AAA State Cross Country Finals next Saturday in Camden. They were led by Zoe Vickery (20:41) who finished 12th overall. The girls achieved a season best 1-5 average time of 22:25 (compare to 24:36 in 2018). 4 out of 6 girls ran a lifetime best today.

The boys team fell two places short of qualifying for the AAA State Meet, but they finished the season on a high note. Matthew Hines (17:52) was the top finisher for the Vikings in 26th place.
