Boys Varsity Cross Country, Girls Varsity Cross Country · EHSXC Competes at Eye Opener


Emerald Boys & Girls Cross Country competed at the Eye Opener Invitational in Spartanburg earlier this morning. The meet was held at the Roger Milliken Arboretum. 100+ schools were in attendance. CLICK HERE for photos from the meet. CLICK HERE for full results from the meet.

The boys team finished 50th, and was led by Matthew Hines (19:19). This team effort bested Greenwood High (52nd), but they were defeated by Greenwood Christian (11th), Clinton (37th) and Laurens (48th). 67% of the EHS boys achieved a season or lifetime best performance.

The EHS Girls were lead by Zoe Vickery (21:45). Jo Beth Darby (23:51), Grace Davis (24:11), Campbell Vickery (24:18), and Cierra Friez (24:29) ran as a pack to round out the scoring. The Lady Vikings led all local schools by finishing 32nd ahead of Greenwood (34th), Clinton (43rd), and Laurens (46th). 88% of the EHS girls achieved a season or lifetime best performance. The Viking runners will be back in action this Tuesday at Clinton High School.
