Boys Varsity Football · Deal Prepares to Transition to Auburn University

Senior Luke Deal will soon be an Emerald graduate and headed to Auburn University to play football. He will be graduating in January. Today, Auburn Head Coach Gus Malzahn and Special Teams Coordinator/Tight End Coach Larry Porter visited Deal at Emerald. The Viking family is proud of Luke and excited to follow his journey to Auburn!

Today, Luke answered a few questions about his decision to attend Auburn University:

1. Several schools were pursuing you. What was the deciding factor for Auburn?
I decided to be an Auburn Tiger because I believe that the people around me will make me a better man in the classroom, on the field, and as a man of God.

2.How did you make the decision to become an early graduate?
Graduating early will allow me to get ahead in my studies and will give me an early advantage athletically.

3. What will your major be? Political Science

4. What are you looking forward to most/least about college?
I’m looking forward to living out my dream and making lifelong relationships. The only negative is that I will miss my family but I know that being independent will only help me grow.

5. What advice would you give younger students wishing to pursue a sport in college?
Nothing is a given in life. To be successful in sports, school, or anything, it requires drive and hard work. With drive, hard work, passion, and emotion, anything is possible.
