An early lead helped Emerald Vikings defeat Belton-Honea Path 5-2 on Thursday. Emerald Vikings Varsity took the lead on a double in the first inning.
Emerald captured the lead in the first inning. With two outs in the first inning Gavin Henderson drove in one run when he doubled.
Emerald scored four runs in the third inning. The Vikings scored on a single by Thomas Dalton, a walk by Sean Adams, and a single by Jacob Slay.
Braeden Burton earned the win for Vikings. He threw six innings, giving up two runs, four hits, and striking out five.
Burton went 3-for-3 at the plate and Jacob Slay had two runs batted in.
