Purple v White 162

The rain could not dampen the spirits of the Viking football team yesterday during their annual Spring Game, which pitted Team Purple against Team White. On the opening drive KD Dean connected with Walter Gaskin on a fade to put the White team up 7-0. White defense stymied Purple offense for the first half, while Beau Miller tacked on a field goal to give White a 10-0 lead at halftime.

The second half was a closer match-up, and Purple took a 14-13 lead on a Luke Deal pass to Alex Grier with 30 seconds remaining in the game. The exciting contest was not finished yet. KD Dean connected with Walter Gaskin again on a hail mary to deliver a 19-14 White victory.

Coach Chris Deal hilighted the standout performances of several players. Treshawn Chamberlain had a dominant day running the ball as well as playing linebacker. Cody Jay and Nick Sheets had a stellar day defensively. Luke Deal played well at quarterback and defensive end.

The Vikings are now set to embark on a long summer of conditioning. Their diligent efforts will prepare them for their season opener in August against Greenwood High.
